The rapper-and-actor – who plays a special agent on TV police drama NCIS: Los Angeles – was involved in a "knock-down, drag-out" fight with the man at his Los Angeles home after the burglar entered the building in the early hours, law enforcement sources told TMZ.
The rapper – whose real name is James Smith – detained the man until police arrived to make the arrest.
LL is said to be "fine" following the altercation, and nothing was taken from his home.
The man – who was arrested on suspicion of burglary – was taken to hospital after the incident for treatment of his broken nose and jaw.
TMZ reports that the man "may suffer from mental issues".
Police have revealed that LL will not be charged with assault over the incident.
