Army recovers arms hidden in Borno church

undefined

The Defence Headquarters has uncovered cache of arms and ammunition hidden in the premises of a burnt church in Kalabalge Local Government Area of Borno.

This is contained in a statement signed by Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, Director of Defence Information and Coordinator, Joint Information Centre Counter Terrorism Campaign in Abuja on Friday.

Olukolade said the arrest of a terrorist, who claimed to be a Camerounian and an arms courier for the Boko Haram insurgents, led to the discovery of the weapons.

He said the weapons, which had been recovered by Nigerian troops, included Anti- aircraft guns, rocket propelled guns as well as General Purpose and other brands of machine guns.

He said the weapons were buried in the premises of the church which had earlier been burnt by the terrorists.

“Also recovered from the location were thousands of various calibres of rounds of ammunition.

“The middle-aged man, who led troops on the cordon and search operation that led to the discovery of the weapons, was one of the terrorists captured in recent raids.

“The man also disclosed that the weapons were stockpiled to be used in a pending attack on some communities around Nigeria-Cameroun border,” he said

Olukolade said the weapons had been evacuated while guard locations and patrols were being maintained in the area and the surrounding localities.

He said the caves in a mountain captured by the troops were being search for terrorists.

He said the terrorists fled to the caves in the wake of ongoing offensive on their enclaves.

Olukolade said the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Kenneth Minima, had been monitoring the deployment and disposition of troops in various locations of the theatre of the counter terrorist campaigns in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.

“The Army Chief, who is in company of his Air Force counterpart, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu, also visited troops who were wounded in the course of the operation.

“The chiefs were assured by the Commander of the Hospital, Brig.-Gen. Okeke Ikechukwu, that most of the wounded soldiers in Military Hospital in Maiduguri are in stable condition,” he said.

“The Army Chief directed that the hospital should not hesitate to let him know the requirements for any case requiring referral or further treatment for the wounded soldiers,” he said. #sourcenigerianeye#

Dayo Adeneye and Wife Caroline Has Maintain Their Love of Over 15 Years

undefined

Dayo Adeneye better known as D1 and his wife, Caroline, have been married for 13 years. The couple have three children and are still growing strong. In this interview with the Punch, they share some details of their life as a couple in the entertainment business.

How long have you been married?

Caroline: We got married in 2001 but I have known him for about 15 years. We courted for two years.

How did you meet?

Dayo: My father introduced us to each other. She had some friends next door to my father’s house and he always told me about these two ladies who used to come around and he said he wanted me to meet with them. I just said to myself: Is it this old man that would give me a girlfriend?’ But my curiosity got the better of me. Then, we met and took it from there.

What was the attraction?

Dayo: She just seemed very down-to-earth apart from the physical attraction. She was very friendly and I associate with people I can converse with. I do not go for just beauty, I prefer somebody I can discuss just anything. I found that in her and I was very comfortable with it. We went on dates and we just had fun.

Did she give you a hard time when wooing her?

Dayo: She did. According to her, I was a celebrity and she does not date celebrities because they don’t make good boyfriends or husbands. It was left to me to change her mind and show her that what I do for a living does not define me. Once I leave the TV or radio, I am just Dayo Adeneye.

How did you bring yourself to date and later marry a celebrity?

Caroline: I had a thing or two against celebrities because most of those we looked up to did not really have a home. Marrying Dayo was a project my late father-in-law embarked on- I just had to marry his son. After meeting Dayo, I watched him closely. He was nice, reserved and forthright. We stuck together even though my parents were against it. After I had my daughter, we were still not married and when they saw that he kept coming around and would take part in family activities, they just called me one day and said we should go and do the wedding. Dayo is a deep-minded person, who allows you to grow. He tells me, ‘I don’t mind if my wife is richer than me.’

When I was in school, I used to run away from the Yorubas. But God made me eat my words and gave me a man I could not resist.

How did he propose to you?

Caroline: He proposed to me outside the country and he did not take me to any fancy restaurant. We were eating eba and vegetable soup. He just said he loved my nails and he wanted to get a closer view. The next thing he did was to slip a ring into my finger and asked me to marry him. I keep telling him that when we are celebrating our 15th year anniversary, he will propose to me again and this time, in a fanciful manner.

How did your union survive the first five years of marriage, which are termed the toughest?

Caroline: It takes a lot of patience and compromise. My mother and one of my aunts told me that if one survives the first five to seven years of marriage , there is a great tendency that both of you would stay together. I had the challenge of being submissive but we were able to overcome it because there was real love, trust, and friendship.

Do you sometimes wish he was not a public figure?

Caroline: No, because when he is at home, he is the Dayo Adeneye I married.

Are you concerned he is a ladies’ man?

Caroline:  My father used to say, ‘If you do not go after women, they would go after you.’ When you do not dwell on it, you will not be bothered. I am happy and do not think I would want him to do anything else because he enjoys what he is doing.

Apart from being his wife, what else do you do?

Caroline: I am a lawyer and I do general business. I am into construction, I do events, and I make branded luxury items.

When you quarrel, who is the first to apologise?

Caroline: D1 is a kind of person that keeps to himself. When he is upset, he does not want to talk. I just let him be. In the early days of our marriage, I did not understand, but with time, I adjusted. I realised that in a short while, he comes around and will usually send the kids to tell me to get him this or that. However, when he upsets me, he starts demanding for things as little as cake and then gradually, he talks his way to my heart. So we really don’t wait for who would apologise first.

How do you balance your roles at home and at the office?

Dayo: It is not very difficult for me. In the early years, because we were working to build a brand, it was difficult for me because we put in many hours at work. In those days, it was very easy to find me working weekends, holidays and I do not think we have spent Valentine’s Day together in the last 12 years and even major holidays like Easter or Christmas, because that is when we are the busiest in entertainment. She understands and fills the void when I am not around. That is why it is important to marry your friend because marriage is not all about love. That friend would be willing to do anything for you. When I am not working, I am always home spending as much time as possible with them.

How often do you give your wife a treat?

Dayo: In the early days, it was a lot of material things such as a car or a parcel of land. But I think we have become so much of friends now that we look out for little things. She knows I do not need the big things to make me happy. Just ordering me an apple pie, (she knows I like it) or a pack of cupcakes makes all the difference. I try to do the same. If I come home early from work,  I whisk her off to a Chinese restaurant, just to let her know I am thinking about her and I appreciate her being in my life.

What would you like to change about each other?

Dayo: She knows. I always tell her she is very stubborn but I have learnt to look at it this way- sometimes, what you consider a weakness could also be strength. Just tweak things a bit and adjust it. That her stubbornness and tenacity also help her in her business because when she locks onto something, she does not give up until she gets it. I tell her, ‘When I say anything to you, listen and digest it before giving me a reply.’ She usually tries to answer immediately and I think that is just the lawyer in her. I tell her, ‘We are not in a courtroom.’

Caroline: He is too strict and I think he should relax. I think he ought to be more open. We can sit here for hours talking and he will not say a word. Meanwhile, he would have taken in everything in the environment.

Is he romantic?

Caroline: He is but not to the extent, I want him to be. For someone who lived in America for 17 years, I do not think he is doing well in that regards. Before, I used to receive text messages every now and then but now it comes once a month.

Dayo: It is network problem.

How do you spend time together?

Caroline: Even though he is not around during the holidays, he makes up for it. Recently, we went to Virgin Islands and we had a lot of fun.

Do you have pet names for each other?

Caroline: Not really. I just call him ‘Honey’ and this started even when I just met him.

Dayo: I do not have any but when I am being romantic, I call her by her middle name. which I do not want to make public.

11 Signs That She Is Not That Into You

undefined
Girls are not easy to understand. No wonder it becomes very confusing for a normal guy to find out, if a girl is interested or otherwise. However there are also cases when we become victims of ignorance where we fail to notice basic signs that lie in front of our eyes. It is always better to pick these signs, before she assumes you to be this desperate psycho trying every chance to gain her attention. Here are 10 signs that she is not that into you:

1.    She often doesn't bother to return your calls:
You could assume that probably she’s been so busy with work that she didn't get even two minutes to spare or that she obviously must have lost her phone or you could just come face-to-face with reality that, she’s just not that into you.
2.    She flirts with boys in front of you all the time:
When a girl likes you more than a friend, there can be no excuse why would she do this. So instead of making yourself believe that she’s just trying to make you jealous, why don’t you just come close to the truth? And the obvious truth here is, the girl is not that into you.
3.    She shuns you away like a fly:
Females always respect the one whom they are interested in. It is in their DNA. There can be no other explanation for belittling you, often forgetting promises made to you and choosing everything possible over you. So if a girl acts like she really doesn't give a damn, probably she really doesn't give a damn.
4.    She runs away from commitment with you:
When you try to talk about your future together, she changes the topic. It is time to face the fact. She does this because she doesn’t want to have a future with you and she may be flirting around with you.
5.    She doesn’t return your advances:
Think about how she reacts when you ask her for a date. Does she just change the topic or come up with silly excuses? If at all she agrees to come out with you, does she always try to bring someone along? Here the huge possibility is that she doesn’t want to be anything more than friends with you. She has already made it pretty evident. It is just you, who is delaying to pick the signs.
6.    She is very amused by your jokes:
If a girl finds you funny, half of the job of getting her attracted to you is done. However if she just won’t laugh at your jokes, if she rolls her eyes at your witty comments and sulks at your funny one-liners, she isn’t that into you.
7.    She ignores you often:
You catch a glimpse of her on the street. You excitedly wave in her direction. But she walks away as if she never saw you. When you finally manage to reach her and ask her why she didn't say hi to you, she acts all innocent saying that she didn't notice you. Well obviously she didn’t notice you because she was trying hard not to!
8.    She is often quiet around you:
Women love to talk. So once that mouthpiece goes into silent mode, it is time to worry. You often notice her not being herself around you and often not telling you even basic important things about her day. You need not look further my brother, the big obvious truth staring at you in the face is that she is not that into you.
9.    She often makes plans minus you:
All girls like their space. But if most of her big plans don’t include you, this is a sign of trouble in paradise. It is so obvious that she is just trying to get away from you and doesn't know how to tell it to you.
10. Nice Comments:You write nice Facebook posts or rather made a nice comment on a blog, she sees it and either likes your comment or reply you nicely, that’s it! That doesn't mean she likes you and it’s not a sign that she is into you.
11. She sends out signs that she is uncomfortable:
If you take a step towards her, she jolts backwards. This is a clear indication that she feels uncomfortable around you. Do you seriously need any more signs?

Sometimes the signs are not that hard to pick. It is just that you are so blinded in love that you just won’t notice. All you got to do is open your eyes to notice the very much visible truth-she’s not that into you!

Reps probe petroleum minister’s N10 Billion spent on private jet

undefined

The House of Representatives on Thursday passed a resolution to probe an alleged expenditure of N10bn by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, to charter and maintain a jet for her personal use.

The sponsor of the motion, Mr. Samuel Adejare, told the House that the minister maintained the aircraft for two years.

“In the last two years, the minister has committed at least N3.120bn in maintaining the private jet, which is used solely for her personal needs and those of her immediate family, which is an appalling act,” he said.

He alleged that other “wasteful” costs associated with the minister’s frequent trips with the jet were “currently estimated at N10bn, which include payment of allowances to the crew for trips, hanger parking and rent based on the lease agreement.”

The All Progressives Congress lawmaker from Agege Federal Constituency in Lagos State, argued that, at a time of dwindling resources, it was a “breach of public trust” and “impudence” for a government official to fly “all over the world, obviously for leisure.”

Members endorsed the motion in a unanimous voice vote and directed the Committee on Public Accounts to conduct the investigation within three weeks.

In another resolution, the House observed that the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas had not remitted revenue to the Federation Account since 2004.

It resolved that its Committee on Gas Resources should investigate the issue within three weeks as well.

A member from Kano State, Mr. Aminu Suleiman, had brought the matter before the House.

Part of Suleiman’s motion reads, “The House notes that the NLNG Bonny, in flagrant disobedience and breach of Section 162(1) of the 1999 Constitution has not remitted funds accruing to it to the Federation Account form 2004 till date.

“That the non-remittance of funds accruing to NLNG Bonny from 2004 till date has adversely affected the Federation Account to the detriment of Federal, States and Local Governments.

“That the unpatriotic actions of those in charge of the NLNG bonny from 2004 till date has resulted in loss of huge revenue that ought to be shared to all tiers of the government form the Federation accounts for both recurrent and capital development.

“That, the non-remittance of funds that accrued to NLNG Bonny to the Federation account from 2004till date has badly affected all critical sectors of the Nigerian economy and constitute an economic crime.”
