With just two days to go, MTV has announced that Rihanna has been added to the star-studded line-up at the 2012 Video Music Awards.
Nominated for five awards – including Video of the Year, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video – the “Talk That Talk” singer will kick off the show with a steamy performance of “Cockiness (Love It)” featuring Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky! at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on September 6. Ri-Ri – who will also perform her global hit, “We Found Love” – is the latest addition to the superstar roster of announced performers and presenters.

Highlights for this year’s show – hosted by comedian/actor Kevin Hart – includes a first time VMA performance by 2 Chainz, the first televised performance of Lil Wayne’s new single, “No Worries” and comedic presentations from Andy Samberg and Rashida Jones. Other celebs and musicians scheduled to appear at the highly anticipated awards event include Frank Ocean, Taylor Swift, P!nk, Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha, Wiz Khalifa and the “Fierce Five” gold medal-winning U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team.
Hip-hop heavyweight, Nicki Minaj has also confirmed a VMA performance in this year’s show. In the running for Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Female Video, the rap diva is expected to give an electrifying surprise guest performance with a previously announced VMA artist. Minaj appears on newly released tracks from fellow performers, Lil Wayne’ (“Dedication 4″)and Alicia Keys (Inferno Remix to “Girl On Fire”) — who will she share the stage with?
