Gulder Ultimate Search 10’s First Identical Twins Evicted

As Gulder Ultimate Search 10 reaches mid-way, the hammer of eviction has fallen on three of the 12 contenders. Mary Adeboye, one of Gulder Ultimate Search 10’s identical twins, was evicted in the Octave Puzzle challenge. She was a member of the Swords tribe.
The other two contenders that have fallen by the wayside are: Peter Ijeh and Ema Etido Ebong, both members of the Spears tribe.
While Peter lost out in the Log and Riddle Task, Ema was identified as the weakest link in the Spears tribe during the Cart Race challenge.
Mary’s eviction occasioned by her poor performance in the Octave challenge and she had to battle Ifunanya Onike Michelle of the Spears in the eviction challenge. Ifunanya, who has proven her mettle as a leading contender for the Gulder Ultimate Search crown, beat Mary, hence her elimination. However, while the contest between Mary and Ifunaya lasted, Martha, Mary’s sister was visibly torn between supporting her sister and Ifunaya, her tribe member.
Mary said being the first evictee of the Swords tribe hurt, but she added she was glad her sister was still in contention for the Gulder Ultimate Search 10 crown. She remarked: “I’m happy and excited that my sister (Martha) is still in the game. I’m not feeling bad that she is still in and I’m out because at the end of the day one of us will still have to leave for the other to stay.”
(more after the cut)

Peter confessed that he possessed physical strength and would still be in the competition if it was based on brawn not brain. He admitted: “I believe if there was no puzzle I won’t have been evicted, I would have gone further. Going through the log, gong over obstacle courses and endurance stuff was not difficult for me because I’m more physical. If anybody had told me I would be out so soon I won’t have believed. I was a little bit disappointed because I can imagine my twin brother back home supporting me and all that; I feel I let him down.”
Ema attributed her early eviction to an injury she sustained when she crashed from a tree during one of the tasks. She noted: “During the last task I fell and hurt myself, it took me a while to get back my strength. I was really hurting but I didn’t want that to show and while I was just in the process of getting back my strength, I was evicted.”
Gulder Ultimate Search is Nigeria’s first 100% local content reality TV programme.

Jeta Amata-- Why my marriage crashed

Jeta Amata
Jeta followed his brother, Fred's footstep by dumping his wife. In a statement he made to another blogger, he blamed the crash on himself. He said this about his former wife.
“Mbong is an amazing mother, an incredible wife…all the time we were together she would never let any other person cook my food…she was faithful and good to me and gave me the best gift in the world, our beautiful daughter. If I didn’t cage her so much maybe we would still be together. I stole her youth and didn’t let her live her dream so it was better to let her go and find new adventures. She’s happy and so am I. Despite the fact that we are no longer together, we are still good friends. She even lives close to me here in LA. Things are great between us and I’m happy to see her happy.

Séx Between Female Students and Teachers

In many ways, Nigerian institutions of higher learning are no different from other such institutions around the world: They are confronted with several contending issues such as budget cuts, plagiarism, cheating during exams, alteration of data by researchers, unhealthy rivalry and tension between faculty members and between faculty and administration and between students and other echelons. These are constants within the academic community.

And of course there is the issue of sexual relationship between some students and some of their teachers, and between some students and some members of the administrative staff...

To be sure, there is not a teaching and learning institution anywhere in the world where such — sex between students and faculty and between students and staff — is not a concern. None! What makes the Nigerian context different is the propensity, the frequency and the severity of the aforementioned.
Parents send their children to school to learn, no to be harassed and sexually molested. Young men and women come to school to learn and learn how to be contributing members of their immediate and global society. They go to school to learn to be good citizens, good human beings. They go to school to develop many skills – including critical thinking skill. And though many show up in all their naiveté and gullibility, still, it is not a reason or an excuse for them to be taken advantage of. Sadly, these are some of the horrors that happen to many Nigerian students, especially the girls.

Sadder is the fact that millions of girls and young women are being abused and exploited on a daily basis. Many are denied their human and civil rights. Many have no access to education, to medical care, or to a caring home and environment. They are the “wretched of the earth.” While there are some shining examples within the Nigerian sisterhood, there could have been several millions more if the Nigerian society had taken its female population more seriously. But we don’t! For the most part, and in many settings, women are things, objects – things and objects to ignore or sexualise.

Thinking about it now, I cannot remember which came first: the sugar daddy syndrome or the sexual exploitation of students by staff and faculty members (sometimes referred to as “Bush allowance”). Long before politicians became conquerors and rulers of the maiden and their honey jars — and long before military officers freely roamed the sexual landscape — sugar daddies were the kings.

Sugar daddies paraded and patronised UNILAG, UNIBEN, BUK, UNIPORT, ABU, UI and every Nigerian university and polytechnic and college of education. And in some cases, they snuck into secondary schools and in the process committed rape and alarming perversions. Today, the larger Nigerian society does not worry itself with what was initially an aberration. It is now a given. Basically, sugardaddism has now become a practice, part of our cultural milieu.

Tell me: How many women, 17-37 years old, do you know who do not have one or two moneybags as a lover or sex mate? I am sure there are. But they can’t be that many. Poverty and unemployment and the general state of confusion and hopelessness have greatly contributed to the mental and psychical anarchy that now characterises the country. In the minds of many, the kingdom of God can wait. Money is the new paradise. You either have it or you don’t. In many enclaves, if you don’t have it, you don’t matter, you don’t count!

No matter how you look at it, sex between a student and a teacher or an administrator cannot be considered a relationship. This is so because there is an element of abuse and exploitation involved. What’s more, many students – especially secondary school and undergraduates — who are so abused and taken advantage of, may suffer psychological and physical damage.

As many universities in the western world have come to understand, there is “power imbalance between the parties” that makes such a liaison unsound and injurious. The University of Connecticut’s Board of Trustees recently voted against “sexual interactions between students and professors.” Similar measures are in place in many universities.

One does not know what the policies are in Nigerian universities and other institutions of higher learning. What seems clear – very clear – is that a whole lot of rape and abuse and exploitation and blackmail are taking place. But really, the complaints are just too many: teachers who demand sex for better class grade and other favours; and teachers who pimp students for financial and non-financial gains. Sex-for-grade or grade-for-sex is indeed a mess, an epidemic that’s been threatening, along with other vexing issues, Nigeria’s educational environment.

To whom do aggrieved female students lodge complaints when many of those in positions of authority are committing the same or similar offence? Do you complain to the Vice-Chancellor, the Dean, the Head of the Department, or to the Faculty Senate? I do not mean to say that the entire rank and file of the Nigerian academics is guilty of these abuses and exploitation. No, not at all! But the fact is that the number of those involved in such inhumanity outweighs the innocent and pious ones.

Are there cases where female students lodged false protests against innocent teachers? Yes, of course! Are there cases where rival teachers used sex to trap and blackmail other teachers? Yes, of course! And are there cases where female students sexually pursued their teachers? Yes, without a doubt! But such incidences are small, very small.

In the end, I wonder if there are academic studies that gauge the impact of sex-for-grade on our educational system, and how they impact the lives of our young women. Even so, these practices and transgressions cannot be good for the country’s culture and educational system. It could be that these injuries cannot be wiped out, but they can be substantially minimised.

No one sends his or her daughter to school to be abused and exploited by depraved minds. Consequently, the learning environment should be a safe and enriching one for all. No society can be great and prosperous if that society refuses to treat her women population with love, respect and dignity. A healthy learning-teaching environment is a human and civil right for all — especially for our young women.

Couples That Kiss Frequently Have Healthier Long-Term Relationships?

Why do we kiss? Sure it's fun, but not when you really think about it. Swapping saliva and what ever else lives in your partner's mouth doesn't sound so cool when spelled out like that. So for a long time now, scientists interested in human behavior have pushed out one theory after another on why people kiss. Apart from the fun, is there any other benefit?

Robin Dunbar, lead researcher of a study done at the University of Oxford finds that "men are more likely to initiate kissing before sex, when it might be used for arousal purposes, whereas women are more likely to initiate kissing after sex, where it might better serve a relationship maintenance function."

He also noted that mate courtship is complex but kissing is an act performed by most of the world. Only 10 percent of the population worldwide does not consider kissing a common practice.

To get the data for this research, Robin Dunbar's research partner, Rafael Wlodarski, posted a questionnaire on an online repository for psychology studies. 900 people in about 20 countries but mostly in the U.S. and the U.K. responded to questions about how they value kissing in various romantic situations.

Wlodarksi concluded from the response that men and women value kissing for different reasons. "Men are more likely to initiate kissing before sex, when it might be used for arousal purposes, whereas women are more likely to initiate kissing after sex, where it might better serve a relationship maintenance function."

A lot of good kissing was associated with a better relationship and satisfaction with the amount of sex. Lots of sex, however, wasn't related to the quality of the relationship. "There seems to be something special about kissing," Wlodarksi notes.

Wlodarksi also found that, overall, women rated kissing as more important than men did. Women were also more likely than men to feel a change in attraction after a first kiss. Long-term partners said kissing was more important than did those in short-term relationships.

An even more interesting finding was that, "lots of kissing was associated with a satisfying and ultimately healthy long-term relationship."

What do you think? Could kisses alone make for a healthier couple overall, or are there a lot more factors involved? When kissing is missing between a couple, does that mean theirs is an unhealthy relationship?

Jonathan Agrees To Sack Stella Oduah and Recover The N255m

President Goodluck Jonathan has come under intense pressure from some powerful men to sack a "corrupt" and "reckless" Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, over the N255m bulletproof car scandal.

Already, President Jonathan has met with his close associates and they have concluded that Stella Oduah is a baggage that is too heavy for Jonathan to carry. “She has to go. This disgrace is too much.”

A source close to Jonathan's inner circle in Aso Rock told enogmaurice that the cash will be recovered. I hear that Stella Oduah is seriously begging Patience Jonathan to save her job and her face.
The call for the minister’s removal followed the ministry’s confirmation on Wednesday that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority bought two bulletproof vehicles worth $1.6m (N255m) for Stella Oduah.

The NCAA had on Friday claimed that the cars were in its possession and are used to “convey the minister and visiting foreign dignitaries.”

But this contradicted the statement of the minister’s aide, Mr. Joe Obi, who had earlier admitted that the cars were purchased because Stella Oduah’s life was in danger.

Following the development, leaders of anti-corruption groups have all said the minister’s acceptance of the cars amounted to receiving a bribe to neglect her duty, leading to the loss of lives in plane crashes.

Executive Director of CLO, Mr. Ibuchukwu Ezike, described the minister’s action as evidence of the level to which impunity had grown among public officers because of Jonathan’s inability to fight corruption.

He said, “If this happened in climes where laws are obeyed; where the credibility of processes is respected, such public officer is sacked and prosecuted. We believe that what has happened is enough reason for the minister, not only to be removed, but to be prosecuted.

“But these things happen and nothing is done. That is why we have been saying that the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is not interested in fighting corruption.”

Similarly, the Executive Director of CACOL, Mr. Debo Adeniran, said Oduah and her accomplices should be sacked and prosecuted for corruption and negligence of duty.

He said, “Not only should Oduah be sacked, she and her accomplices should be promptly arrested, investigated, prosecuted and actually punished for such heinous crime. What she did is like taking a bribe from NCAA, which means she will no longer be able to maintain standard in aviation sector. And when standards are not maintained, all you get is that Nigerians are killed in plane crashes.”

When contacted by Punch, spokesperson for ICPC declined comment. He said: “No comment for now.”

Minister Stella Oduah Gets 72hrs To Resign Over N255m Car Scandal

The heat is on. Nigeria's most visible anti-corruption watchdog led by a former legislator, Hon. Dino Melaye, has given Nigeria's Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah 72 hours to resign from office.

The ultimatum follows revelations that she arm-twisted a cash-strapped agency, the NCAA, to purchase two armored BMW 760 Li cars for her at highly inflated prices from N96m to N255m.
BMB gathered from a top source in Abuja that even President Goodluck Jonathan is shocked at Stella Oduah's spending of N255m for just two cars but he can't do anything due to some reasons.
Anyway, Dino Melaye said his group will embark on series of actions to force President Jonathan to fire Mrs. Oduah as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as well as order her to return the $1.6 million to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, which was forced to buy the cars.

Dino Melaye said the purchase of the vehicles was done in violation of the various rules and law guiding such high-level procurement by government officials, particularly the monetiazation policy of federal government.

First, Dino Melaye said he is heading to court next Tuesday to force the EFCC to prosecute the Minister.

On the cost of the vehicles, Melaye described them as “unconscionable,” recalling that the Speaker of House of Reps also purchased two Armored Mercedes Benz S-600 B7 grade armored cars a year ago for less than $800,000.

He also disclosed that he had requested for quotations from Germany that show that the vehicles actually cost less than $200,000 each. Even then, he stressed, the Minister has no right to purchase the vehicles for her personal use in the first place.

Stella Oduah is the co-chair of President Jonathan’s main presidential campaign team, Neighbor-2-Neighbor hence she may not be sacked since Jonathan is known to romance corrupt people openly.

Despite claims by aero medical experts that Feyi Agagu, a survivor of the October 3, Lagos plane crash and son of the late governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, was responding well to treatment, he was yesterday flown abroad for better medical attentiion.  Feyi, another survivor of the air crash, simply identified as Akin, has also been transferred abroad for medical attention.

Investigations revealed that the two survivors departed the country aboard a British Airway flight on Yesterday. About five or six medical experts accompanied the patients on the flight, while details of the family members on the trip remained very sketchy as at the press time.

Investigations revealed that family members and associates of the late Agagu had requested that he and his brother-in-law, Akin, should be moved out of the country to where they would have access to better and more sophisticated medical treatment at Harvey Street Hospital, London. They were scheduled to leave on Tuesday but because of the unstable state of Feyi’s health, the flight was rescheduled till yesterday when he was moved to the Lagos airport at about 10 pm for the flight. To avoid suspicion from the members of the public, family members on the flight were given VIP clearance and moved into the terminal at about 30 minutes to the departure time.
