I had séx with my brother-in-law by mistake. In the dark I thought he was my husband. I’m 29, my husband’s 31. His parents held a family party for his niece’s 18th birthday last weekend. 

Everyone was there, including my husband’s brother who was home from working away in Saudi. He’s 36. We all get on well and there was plenty of alcohol and food. It was a nice party and we carried on drinking and dancing into the small hours. 


My husband went up to bed before me and said he’d be waiting for me. I followed him up 20 minutes later. I got into bed feeling frisky and we ended up having séx. I looked round and got the shock of my life when I realised I was in bed with the wrong man. The man beside me was my husband’s brother. I’d gone into the wrong bedroom and I guess my brother-in-law thought it was his lucky day. We had all had a lot to drink. I ran to the right bedroom and crawled into bed with my husband who was fast asleep. Then I realised I’d left my underwear in the other room, so I sneaked back. 

My brother-in-law was stirring so I hissed that we must keep quiet about what had happened. He just said, “Whatever.” He’s flown back to Saudi now but I don’t know whether to admit everything to my husband. If this comes out I’ll lose a man I love more than anything and cause family ructions.

Show Me The Market Where They Sell Husband, I Will Buy One...
I have heard the question ‘are you married?’ more than the birthday wishes I receive annually. At first, I used to sheepishly answer ‘no oooo, not yet’, then I continued to ‘very soon’. After a while, I started claiming it by fire by force, claiming that the man is on his way to meet me. All these haven’t changed the fact that some years down the line, I am still not married.

I have been in relationships that were good and some bad. The good ones happened when I was much younger and not ready to settle down; but the bad ones have taught me the lesson of a lifetime. My last one got me dishing out my money on a regular basis. All he had to do was come up with some story of being unable to carry out some projects due to some financial incapability. I was earning twice as much as he earned, would take a cab to and from his place on weekends. Sweet Lover Boy would just stand by the cab and wave me bye when he was leaving. I would cook his favourite dishes too; all he had to do was say what he wanted to eat. All these were with my very hard earned Naira. I never missed a moment to surprise him – buying gifts, calling him hourly- all because I wanted a ring on my finger.

It eventually collapsed after I met his mum. Because, seemingly for no reason, she did not like me and found me not worthy of her son. It was too late to count my losses. How can I forget? He even lost his job mid-way into our 8 months relationship and yes, the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31 would have had to contest with me if she had a face. I was fending for both son and mother. Lover boy would always complain of B if he got A and complain about D when I made sure he eventually got B.

Before you start saying ‘maybe, you are not good looking’, I dare say that if it was beauty that kept a man, then Prince Charles would never have left Diana. I am 5’7 and pretty. However, the men I have met after my ‘tales in hell’ relationship are either married or about to get married. That is not a life I would want for myself. Before you also say maybe you gave too much away by cooking his meals or being generous or sympathetic, I say to you ‘how can you please the world’?

The guy I dated before Sweet Lover Boy got me something new every time we met, took me to places I had only dreamed of, but I never got him anything. At a point, he felt I was stingy. I never called with my airtime despite his purchases of same for me. When we eventually broke up, he told me to my face that I did not love him. In retrospect, I loved him, but I was with the mindset that giving a man anything would cheapen the reason of their existence. It hurt me when we broke up and then I resolved to give and give and give and give in my next relationship.

Almost all of my friends and colleagues are married, and from the look of things, it seems like a good place to be in. The ‘my husband’, ‘my wife’ tales are good to listen to sometimes. To love and be loved is the sweetest thing that could ever happen to anyone. I desire that. In the meantime, I am where I am, fasting and praying for this man.

Like couples long for a child and ache at the sight of toys or children parties, I long for an engagement ring and to splatter my wedding pictures on Facebook (whether high profile or not), I long to gist others about ‘my husband did this or said this’ (whether true or not).

Until he comes, I am here, focusing on other things, moving my life forward, being a better person every day. Technology has a bank for sperm or eggs for couples experiencing infertility, sadly, there isn’t any for men.

So, friends and colleagues, church members and distant relatives, until you show me the market where to buy one from, please stop asking me if I am married.

Olamide, Key Lessons To Making It In The Music Industry

How to be successful as your own boss in the entertainment industry:

Before I start, can we agree Nigerian rapper Olamide is the hottest Nigerian rapper right now? With over 10 hit collaborations in less than a year, chart topping singles from a critically-acclaimed album, ubiquitous guest appearances and cameos; it’s safe to say he is...

It didn’t start this way for ‘Badoo’ though. Olamide’s early days can be traced to many years back when he was still called G-Dog and would visit veteran urban sound producer ID Cabasa’s studio in Bariga, in his secondary school uniform.

With the CODED Tunes dynasty falling apart, (9ice had just left, Lord of Ajasa left to work with K Solo for his third album, 2Phat kind of stopped making music, Reminisce and Jah Bless signed with EDGE Records), the young energetic rapper was signed and re-christened ‘Olamide’. He also signed a management deal with Toni Payne and released a premature debut album ‘Rapsodi’ in 2011, thus his journey to absolute power began.

It’s 2013 and a lot of things have changed; what we can tell you is that Olamide’s career would have gone down the drain after his debut release if he hadn’t made power moves – the kind of moves only a boss (or a boss in the making) would make. 

Nigerian Entertainment Today details all these in a few points below:

1. GET YOURSELF A KICK ASS MANAGER
First thing Olamide did was fire Toni Payne whom he felt wasn’t doing much for his career right after his debut album release. The two parted ways controversially when Payne reportedly accused Olamide of performing and collecting performance fees without her knowledge. Olamide was then managed by 2Phat of CODED Tunes. After parting ways with ID Cabasa, he hired the services of Tony Nwakolor. Nwakolo, a very popular 30 something-year-old manager had failed with a now defunct Yes Records years back but in the process gained a lot of experience. Olamide is currently being managed by Nwkolo’s 1805 Entertainment.

2. AVIOD BEEF AND CONTROVERSY
Even when Olamide parted with Toni Payne and eventually CODED Tunes, he kept his thoughts on the matter on the low, never speaking to the press about it. He also didn’t discuss his partying ways or throw disses at them on his songs. He also has united with other Yoruba speaking rappers especially Reminisce (who seems to be his toughest competition), Base One and others. No stories of getting drunk, knocking any girl up or being photographed while sleeping with a university student. And oh yea, he stopped dissing 9ice too.

3. BUILD YOUR OWN EMPIRE
Olamide is currently building his empire – starting with setting up his own label – YBNL (Yahoo Boy, No Laptop) which relates to a hustler, whose work ethics matches that of an internet fraudster), merging forces with rappers Kida Kudz (winner of the Peak Talent Show, season 2) and 2Kriss. He has also got for himself a new producer Mr Pheelz who is credited with giving him the new sound on his ‘YBNL’ album.

4. DO IT BIG
Why buy a 9mm gun to kill a 20 feet giant when you could buy a rocket launcher? Olamide didn’t leave any stone unturned when recording his sophomore album YBNL – sticking with a little known producer Mr Pheelz (with some help from big brother Samklef), Olamide tightened his guest appearance list, featuring the likes of A-List acts Tiwa Savage, Davido, B-List acts Kayswitch, Dammy Krane and street-appealing acts rappers Reminisce, BaseOne, Minus and Aduke.

5. APPEAL TO THE STREETS
Since Dagrin’s death in 2010, there’s not been a rapper who has appealed to the public with street music, more than Olamide and Reminisce (mega props to Illbliss, Vector, Erigga and Seriki). With street appealing songs like ‘First of all’, ‘Ilefo Illuminati, ‘Voice of the Streets’ and ‘Young Erikina’, Badoo has won the hearts of the streets again.

6. APPEAL TO THE FEMALE FAN BASE
We can’t leave the ladies out. Olamide also knows this, so with tracks like ‘Unite’ and ‘Stupid love’, he keeps gaining their attention as the DJ and radio stations keep spinning those singles.

7. WORK OVERTIME
Truth be told – Nigerian rappers are very lazy, or how would you explain a popular rapper releasing only two singles in a whole year? (Although A&Rs would explain he/she is trying to push and penetrate the market). Olamide is going the old fashioned way (and most secure route), by working his ass off (like 2pac, Notorious BIG, Lil Wayne, Drake, 50 Cent), recording and releasing multiple materials. A week after dropping his successful YBNL album, Olamide dropped a new song 'Rayban Abacha', announcing the release of his new mixtape 'Still on Streets' dropping in 2013. He has gone on to drop two other singles.

Prostitution: Nigerian Girls Who Survive As Sex Slaves

Just last week, Naples mafiosi were convicted of forcing a cancer patient, Lilian Solomon from Nigerian,   into prostitution. The situation of young Nigerian girls who are sold into sex slavery, many against their wish, is worse than you could ever imagined. Some of the girls as young as 13.

Across Italy, Nigerian women are forced into the sex trade, essentially kept as slaves who are bought and sold and moved according to a moribund supply and demand. Some of the prostitutes are young girls, just 13 or 14 years old. Others are in their 20s or 30s. Many have children. Some are still married to men in Nigeria. They usually sit on white plastic chairs under umbrellas to protect them from the rain in the winter and the harsh sun in the summer.
The highest concentration of Nigerian forced sex workers is in and around Naples, but they are not limited to the southern reaches. On Thursday, in the central region of Abruzzo, four Nigerian gang members and an Italian taxi driver who allegedly procured prostitutes across the country were sentenced to between nine and 15 years in prison for making 23-year-old Nigerian Lilian Solomon prostitute herself even though she was in the late stages of lymphoma cancer.

The court in Teramo ruled that the Nigerian band prohibited the young woman from seeking treatment and should be held responsible for her death. She was represented in court by members of “On the Road” association against sex trafficking, which alerted authorities about her plight. Solomon testified under oath against the band before she died in 2009. The sentence, four years after her death, won’t bring her back, but it is one small step toward holding the sex traffickers accountable.

According to Renato Natale, a local Neapolitan doctor who is a former anti-mafia mayor of Casal di Principe, the majority of the Nigerian girls and women who are sex slaves were sold for around $50,000 by their parents or husbands in Nigeria, often to pay loan sharks or to get families out of debt. Some women paid sums of more than $13,000 out of their own pockets in exchange for the promise to find legitimate work in Italy with the goal of sending money home or even eventually bringing their entire families over. Natale says when they arrive in Italy, they are often raped into submission and plied with drugs and turned into prostitutes.

Many of the women have scars on their bodies from a voodoo-style initiation ritual where they pledge allegiance to their pimps out of fear of torture. “Frida,” 26, is a former prostitute who now works at a shelter for abused women in Rome. She says her initiation included vaginal penetration with a hot candle. She has scars on her inner thighs from the hot wax. She worked on the Via Domitiana for three years before she ran away with one of her clients who she befriended. She said many of the women on the Neapolitan highway try to convince the clients to take them away, but they often get caught and the men are threatened never to return. “Even the police sometimes pay for sex,” she told The Daily Beast. “There is no protection there from anyone. There is no one you can trust.”

She says she was required to pay the Nigerian mafia dons $400 a month for one-square-meter of highway to work off the $50,000 investment. Natale says the Nigerians, in turn, pay a fee to the Casalesi clan of the Camorra organized-crime syndicate, who run the sex trade around Naples. Natale says the women are not allowed to charge more than $13 a trick—the market rate for street sex in the impoverished south—and they are not allowed to refuse customers. Frida says they were afraid to charge more. “They watched us all the time,” she says. “They would drive by or send spies to make sure we stayed in line.”

Prostitution is not illegal in Italy as long as the sex workers are over 18, but it is illegal to pick up a prostitute on the street. Recently, police have been enforcing the client crackdown on roadside prostitution by fining the clients, so the mob has started buying up apartment blocks along the Via Domitiana and in other parts of the country. They have started moving the women off the streets and into the villas where drugs are sold in the basement and sex is sold upstairs. Natale used to visit the women on the streets and give them medications for STDs. He says the move to put the women in the houses is far more dangerous and life-threatening. “These people are treated like merchandise,” he says. “Now they are being kept in these houses that are protected by armed guards. They were somewhat safer on the streets because at least there we could check on them.”

There is little hope to stop the illegal sex-trafficking racket, says Natale, because most of the women are illegal immigrants and do not have documents and are not in the Italian state system and therefore “nonexistent” in the eyes of the authorities. But there is also a bigger problem in that there is no authoritative government entity currently involved in stopping sex trafficking in Italy. All the work is done by non-governmental organizations with limited funds and virtually no power. “We are like ghosts,” says Frida, who recently legalized her living status in Italy and wants to help other Nigerians get off the street. “We are literally shadows on the highway.”

Kim Kardashian and baby daddy Kanye West set to split.

MediaTakeOut.com just got word this morning that a major news publication will shortly be reporting that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have split! According to our snitch, the pub reportedly has a high level snitch who is saying that the pair has agreed to split - but are not going to announce anything until after this season of Kourtney and Kim Take Miami, and after the Kanye's album release this summer.

The word is that he couple is scared of all the bad press that they'd receive if they split so soon. As for the "baby" . . . we'll see what happens.

I don't necessarily believe this but here's more. Kanye is on a self imposed exile in Paris...so while Kim is pregnant, they live in different continents. Also, on Easter Monday Kim Kardashian took an 11 hour flight to visit Kanye in Paris. They were photographed on several outings with sour faces each time. Two days later, she was back in the US.

Also, in a recent interview while promoting Tyler Perry's Temptation, Kim talked about her pregnancy and described herself as being alone. Plus, they were supposed to move in together in February, but Kanye later put the house they bought up for sale and moved to Paris. I hope we are all just reading too much meaning into what's going on between them. I hope they make it.

Jada Pinkett-Smith Defines Open Relationship For Her Marriage

Jada Pinket Smith and Will Smith have not hidden the fact that their marriage is an open one, even if in the past we were not sure what that meant for them. In a recent interview she clarified that it means "respecting that you're in a partnership, but knowing that you're an individual as well."

I am fine with that kind of an open relationship, and even polygamy as I said here. I am not an advocate, nor will I promote it, but I think the relationship with one's husband is something each woman has to make a personal decision about and not be influenced unnecessarily by those who aren't living it with them.

For me, open relationships are those in which you tell me when you begin to fall for someone else, and we can decide what to do about it. Will I give permission, probably not. 

Some may say this opens the door to cheating, but I think it promotes honesty and communication first of all, and who says there's no cheating in relationships where the parties are all jealous and possessive?

I think that cheating cuts across both genders. However, in a relationship with friendship and mutual respect, I think it is easier to make cheating a non-issue.

In the interview above on HuffPost, Jada addressed the speculation that she and Will Smith have an open marriage.

"I've always told Will, 'You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay'. Because at the end of the day, Will is his own man. I'm here as his partner, but he is his own man. He has to decide who he wants to be and that's not for me to do for him. Or vice versa." 

"I don't think it's easy to be married to anyone, I think that you have to go into a relationship knowing -- especially when you're dedicating to someone for the rest of your life -- this is a life partnership ... He's my best friend. He's been by my side through some of the most difficult parts of my life. And so that's something you can never take away."

Will said in another interview. "What's helped us is being supportive, no matter what the situation is. I'm so lucky to have someone like Jada. She's really an incredible woman, wife and mother. ...she is just absolutely hardcore, like she absolutely is unfazed by the weight and the pressures of life. She is so calm and cool and easy in any situation. She can bear anything, and I just love that about her."

Now I know many people are opposed to any meaning of the word open when it comes to relationship or marriage, but do you think Jada and Will are proof that it could work?
