As
most Nigerians probably know, public school students dont take
resumption dates seriously. The moment the date is fixed, a lot of them
automatically add an extra week to it – if not two. However, for
students of Army Day Secondary School, Ikpoba Hill, Benin, this trend
might change hence. This
is as a result of the good fortune that smiled upon one of their
colleagues, one Master HendrisObasuyi, when he received a laptop from
the Edo State Governor for being the first to resume at school for the
session. The principal of the school, Mrs Florence Edokpa, confirming
the laptop presentation on Monday in Benin, and said, the student was
presented with the laptop for his punctuality.
According
to her, “Obasuyi was the first student to arrive to school for the
2012/2013 Academic Session on Monday… The laptop was presented by Mr
Yusuf Bako, the Chief Inspector of Education, Ikpoba-Ohka Local
Government Area of the state, on behalf of the state governor to him for
his punctuality to school.” On
his own part, Obasuyi, an SS 2 student, said that he was very grateful
to receive the award: “The laptop will assist me in doing my assignments
and research when connected to the Internet,” he said.
