United States President Barack Obama on Wednesday morning thanked Americans for re-electing him for a four-year second term.
In a speech at the McCormick Place in Chicago, Obama said, “Tonight…
the task of perfecting our union moves forward. It moves forward because
of you.
“We are an American family that rises or falls as one nation.”
Obama, who was cheered on by the resounding chant of his supporters’
“Four more years!” said, “Democracy can be messy. We each have our own
deeply held beliefs. That won’t change after tonight, and it shoudn’t.
“Thank you for believing all the way. You lifted me up the whole way and I will always be grateful.”
He also thanked the “happy warrior”, Vice-President Joe Biden, as
well as his own wife, Michelle, and his daughters Sasha and Malia, the
BBC reports.
