The decision to keep the 56-year old bassist came up after negotiations with Enrique Iglesias failed as they could not agree on terms.
According to TMZ, Jackson is very close to signing his deal after producers initially tried to move him away from the judge’s table and use him as a “mentor.”
With show’s audition set to start in few days, producers of the show are desperate to get the judge’s table ready with experienced hands, and they know Jackson can get the job done.
Former judge Simon Cowell also confirmed the development via a tweet last night;
The four seats are set to be occupied by Mariah Carey, who is already locked in, as negotiations with Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj could be finalized any minute.
